Words are a human invention. Words are used to communicate. Words are a substitute for the real "things". Words are used to express thoughts, ideas, physical things, what has happened in the past, what is happening right now, what will happen in the future and so on. Words are a substitute for the real things. Just imagine a real, physical house, with roof, ceilings, walls, doors and windows - and we use a simple word HOUSE to describe all that.
Are symbols words?
What about: '?' - is that a word?
'?' = question mark. So we can conclude that '?' is an abbreviation for the two words - question mark.
The mathematical expression: x2 is defined as: an unknown number multiplied with the same unknown number. So we can conclude that x2 is an abbreviation for nine words.
What about '5' - is that a word?
'5' = five. So we can conclude that '5' is an abbreviation for the one word - five.
History:
The English Group for the Study Technology was established in spring 2013 with the aim to improve a pupil / student's ability to study. This study technique is very simple - but at the same time logical and can be learned by anyone who may be interested.
